2012 medal count 6: can we increase it?

Olympics is considered to be a pinnacle of sport.Olympics defines the careers of many sportspersons.New records are made new milestones are achieved and some really big defining movements of sportsman career are also achieved.India which is predominantly a cricket crazy nation never had the success in olympics.The nation was satisfied with 1 medal.There was no such coverage ,no build up etc.But a lightening like thunder came in 2008 where India won 3 medals which was beyond expectations of nation.This saw new heores arise in terms of Sushil,Vijender and Abhinav.They got accolades from every nook and corner possible.


Indian contingent and everyone started taking olympics seriously.The new trendsetters left no stone unturned to promote their respective sport.This led to doubling their medal tally in London.But question lies is it enough in a huge populated country 6 medals are enough?.These questions remain unanswered.When we probe depper into this question we will find  out that India lacks the sporting culture .It is a fact and we have to accept it.There is not much encouragement/support  of sportsman in our country.Secondly,living cricket India does not have strong domestic arena,infrastructure in developing other sports.There are more cricket stadiums then any other sport in India and not to mention it BCCI is one of the richest cricketing boards.Thirdly,domestic circuit should be very strong so that healthy competition will lead to getting best from the available.Fourthly,living hockey,cricket,tennis  and badminton other sports are not broadcasted in our country.Government and sports bodies should take steps in order to promote other sports in national platform.This will encourage sportsman and also will do world of good .Fifthly,corporates should also start endorsing other sports .
The 6 sportsperson who made India proud in London olympics

Hope post 2012 Olympics after  doubling the medal tally we will see these reasons are addressed and in 2016 there will be more medals won and also the color of medal will also change.Roadmap is laid out and it will not be late when we see India a sporting nation.
