Things to change for Pollution Control In India

Pollution  in India has reached new heights .Increased road traffic in Tier 1 cities  specifically near 44 thousand vehicles are been added in Mumbai City according to study. So nearly that much traffic injected into the road is heartbreaking.Similarly the same situation is present now for all  big cities be it Bangalore,Delhi, Chennai ,Hyderabad etc.Delhi was in race recently  for becoming most polluted capital of world. Finally the government has realized  be it state government or Environment Ministry in centre and also steps  that government to be considered to curb pollution

1.Odd even numbering scheme:Well   there are crtics who have hammered and slammed this scheme of Kejriwal. But to be fair enough Kejriwal took immediate step in implementing this idea.I cannot comment on the success of this scheme but he had different idea or an immediate innovation to curb rising pollution levels.Similarly all the other state governments should try to implement this scheme or a similar kind of innovating scheme to curb pollution in their corresponding cities

2.Focus on Car pooling and  stressing on Public transport:Concepts of car pooling should be encouraged more instead of one person travelling solitarily in a car , he can accommodate more persons and share expenses, save fuel and also lead to less traffic in roads.Secondly much important that governments should focus on Public transport .If there is efficient public transport in road and train then people will not commute in their own vehicles and rely on it.Barring Mumbai Local train ,Delhi’s metro,Bangalore Bus facility etc. There are bits and pieces of good public transport but realization has to spread over all cities and all forms of transport be it air, road ,train etc.Thirdly, government should implement policy of  making  transport arrangements  mandatory for their employees specifically for private companies. Many private companies do not have  full fledged transport arrangements for their  employees .So governments should try to bring an policy and enforce companies on transportation arrangements

3.Good Quality Materials for developing roads and Buildings:Often it is seen that the building materials for developing roads societies is not off a high quality standard.Specifically roads if there are  not made of superior quality then cracks, potholes tell the story. To fil the pot holes you use sand or  other substitutes which do not guarantee longevity but increase levels of dust.Almost in all cities in main junctions we see huge pebbles of stones, dumps of sand lying unattended which ultimately leads to dust pollution. Not only this the sweepers who clean the roads in early morning;they clean the roads and keep that dust in side of the road and  it lies unattended because of various reasons. This actually contributes to the levels of  dust pollution. So we should empower sweepers in better way of cleaning our roads and focus on quality of materials for building of roads while selling contracts  to real estate developers in market

4.Alternatives for Petrol/Diesel:It’s high time that we adapt European emission standards and regulate our petroleum products and make sure that it adheres to that.European emission standards actually  define acceptable limits of emission which is essential now in India considering the no of vehicles being injected to city roads now a days

5.Waste reduction:With respect to waste reduction and characterizing waste for degradable/bio-degradable or wet/dry .We have come a long way. There is lot of awareness being spread among people by NGO and even Government’s.Swach Bharat would also be having checkpoints for waste reduction. But the fruit vendors, thella’s,the chai tafri’s use lot of materials such as polythenes, the plastic cups, plates which are not monitored and ultimately leads to littering in public places and also increases in waste .Local municipalities should put checks on monitoring these wastes .

6.Pollution in water:Its ironic and strange we are responsible for polluting water bodies in our country.Be it country side lake, man made pond or holy river we make pujas, visarjans, holy dips and ultimately throw it in the water.Kumbh melas  and Pushkaralu in rivers have polluted the Ganges river.I am not against ritual of a religion but we should understand the same water comes into our houses as a drinking waters. We take buffaloes, elephants to rivers in order to take bath but in process we are digging our own graveyard. In cities it has been seen that we throw wastes into ponds and rivers which is actually stunning as the same water would be coming as Drinking water for our houses

7.Noise pollution:We celebrate our occasions  with great pomp and show and not to forget with also  lot of noise.Be it a wedding party ,functions etc the usage of loud speakers, stereo systems and the sound that it generates is very disturbing and irriating to ears.Government while giving permissions for loudspeakers, stereo systems should actually monitor the acceptable units of decibels for particular locality. Not only loud speakers and stereo systems even horns in our automobiles is of very high decibles specially trucks, trailers etc.

When we talk of pollution  we should not concentrate on air pollution and traffic congestion but there are other forms of pollution which are acting as slow poison and will kill our next generation. We need to understand the government itself  cannot curb pollution;it should be joint effort between you and me .
