AIB’s Roast
Freedom of speech has been under
scanner ever since AIB’s Roast video has become viral in you tube.AIB a you
tube channel which creates satire of
almost every significant event in our
country. The range is from bollywood, cricketers, politicians advertisements and
famous personalities of our country.AIB wanted to raise the bar of comedy in India by doing Roast.Well Roast is defined as zonner
of comedy which is considered as vulgar and insult comedy.AIB has been
virtually knocked out ever since its knock out video became viral.Altough AIB
had put disclaimer’s in the initials of video that Roast is a form of vulgar
comedy but reaction’s and responses were mixed and controversial. What has led
to controversy well the filthy language, foul and bad words used in the video.Considering
the celebrities who featured in this video the dynamic Ranveer Singh,Arjun
Kapoor and successful director Karan Johar. Not only this Roadies
Fame Raghu,Critic Rajeev Masand were also part of the Roast. In the audiences stars like Alia Bhatt,Deepika Padukone,Sonakshi
Sinha and many other renowned celebrities were present which makes the video popular.Considering the stars who featured
in this video ,AIB had ticked all the boxes to make the Roast viral and
popular.Aamir Khan responded to the video saying that “Every creative
person has to be responsible” to which he got a flak on social media on maintaining
double standards with respect to Delhi Belly.I agree to views of Aamir Khan the
reason being each move closely watched, monitored and immitated. So in that
perspective it is the responsibility of creative person of giving the right
message to the society.Secondly , many people have a different school of
thought saying that India is free country and everybody has there own
views, expressions and opinions about a particular topic. But AIB video is
actually a violation of Freedom of Speech because of unparliamentary, foul and
filthy language used.I felt that this video is perfect example of misuse of
freedom of speech.Ya Freedom of speech is fundamental right but it does
not mean that one can speak whatever he/she
wants and that to in a large scale and
platform.Thirdly, the video is regarded as comedy but throughout the video audiences
only smile on the vulgarity of the jokes
no on the comic timing of joke.
Although there was a disclaimer
in the staring of video but I believe that “Freedom of Speech” needs disclaimer
and terms and conditions.Just like we have certification body that certifies
our movies similarly we should have body/agency who monitors our social content in internet .
