With the makeover of cell phone to smart phone.Smartphone  Wikipedia defines as a phone with advanced computing capability and features .As the market place flooded with smartphones ,it has created a new market for apps.How would you define apps well I would define app as computer program that runs on smartphone .Recently we have seen that the  apps ,online brands have aggressively started marketing themselves.People using smartphones recently have mushroomed like anything virtually everyone has a smartphone which either runs on Android,Windows or an Ios platforms.Seeing at this rise online brands   have started themselves marketing aggressively.Brands like Myntra,Flipkart ,Red Bus,Book my show have not only made their presence in online space but also started marketing themselves in all forms of media.




Flipkart has actually expanded its product portfolio from selling books initially to now  selling virtually everything like TV’s ,Washing Machines.Myntra’ the fashion retailer adding more brands to its kitty has benefited the brand very much.Flipkart is considered as India’s answer to Amazon.Seeing the success of these brands world famous online brands like Amazon and Ebay have entered into Indian marketplace. Flipakrt ‘s acquisition of Myntra clearly shows the market potential that India has.With Youngsters spending more time online.This has become tipping point to success of these brands.Other parameters like Attractive discounts,Clever payment options and Easy returns have made people to do shopping online.Not only this Ibibo acquisition of Red Bus which is considered as game changer in online ticketing industry. Paytm facing strong competition from freecharge while What’s app facing fierce competition from Line,We Chat ,Viber and our very own Hike. WeChat  and Line messaging app have associated with Bollywood movies and Celebrity endorsements for their presence in smartphones.There are also sites which provide matrimonail services like shaadi.com,jeevan saath which also shows that even an individual can get his life partner onlne.Classifiers like Quickr and OLX are investing hefty amounts on ad campaigns .These ad campaigns are focussing on  to change the habits to sell their unused & old items.Olx has roped now Kapil Sharma as Brand Ambassador for promotion of its site.Talking about Brand Ambassadors Just Dial has roped Amitabh Bachchan and Ask me and Saavn have roped  Ranbir kapoor for their brand endorsements.If you thought these were  the only promotional startegies  that these giant killers have done ,well Snapdeal.com competitor to Flipkart & Myntra has decided to associate itself with controversial reality show Big Boss season 8.
Online Brands are becoming bigger in India and are changing the habits of people.I guess there are less footfalls in mall or real world   but there are mouse clicks in   virtual world.
