Tata Motors:time to rethink


Today’s automobile market has changed drastically.The way business is done is also changed.Lifecycle of products is also changed.The product lifecycle is reduced,shortened and is changing very fast.This is applaicable for all industries and is no way different for automobile industry.Automobile industry in India few years ago was in very nascent stage where consumers were looking for value for money but know consumers are willing to pay more or say to say spend more on buying cars.The players in Automobile sector are completely revamping their strategy but in this race the Indian carmaker has lost it.This has shown in its financial results were there is sharp decline in the sales.


Tata Motors the trusted name car maker which has the ability to build world’s cheapest cars and also has the ability to build vehicles like Sumo and Safari.But this carmaker is facing stiff competition from all sides be it consumers and also its rivals.Talking about rivals Mahindra has eaten share of Sumo and Safari with its incredible Xylo and Scorpio.What Mahindra has done different?.Well Mahindra understood the changing mindset indian car consumers.It has spend lot of money on car aesthatics.When anybody sees Scorpio or Xylo they will fall in love with the vehicle and try to acquire it.Secondly,Tata might have built very good car in terms of Engine,mileage,strength and various other features but if there is no marketing then people will not buy your product.Yes I agree that Tata motors is a traditional company but atleast u should be visible in the minds of consumer which Tata lacks and other players have cashed in.I would say this point has been cashed in by Maruti Suzuki .Finally as I have already told that the product lifecycle is reduced drastically where every car company delivers new model almost every 3 months.One more reason I would like to say is that there is no SUV or Sedan from Tata Motors in the market.  Tata was having considerable market share in hatchback segments especially in Indica and Vista.But over a period of time Indica became car used for cabs and consumers are willing to pay more  and go for another models rather than Indica.


So the time has come to rethink for Tata Motors focussing on social media marketing,better innovative ways of production and specially concentrate on branding.Tata name symbolizes trust and when the company focus on building its brand it will bounce back hard and strong.Investors and Analysts are bullish in the stock and they are hopeful that with the royalty,brand power & Technology of Jaquar Land Rover,Tata Motors will soon create thunder in the industry
